Recipes
Save any recipe from a photo, a link or text.
ShoppingListr fills in a recipe for you from a photo of a cookbook page or a handwritten card, a link to a recipe online, or text pasted from a message or your notes. You check it, save it, and it's ready to plan with.
Free. No card. Nothing to install.
How recipe import works
-
Start a new recipe
Choose Photos to take or pick pictures of the recipe, or Paste text or link for a recipe from a website, a message or your notes.
-
Let it read the recipe
ShoppingListr picks out the name, the ingredients with their quantities, and the method. A recipe spread over two pages can come from up to four photos.
-
Check it and save
Everything is filled in on the recipe form for you to check and change. When it came from a website, the link is saved with it so you can always find the original.
Questions about adding recipes
Does it work with handwritten recipes?
Yes. Photograph a handwritten card the same way as a printed page. Handwriting is easier to misread than print, so check the amounts before you save; the form reminds you when a recipe came from photos.
Are my photos kept?
No. The photos are only used to read the recipe. They aren't saved with the recipe or anywhere else, and if no recipe can be read, they stay on screen so you can retake one.
How do the ingredients get onto my shopping list?
Each ingredient is matched to an item you already use, so the same thing from different recipes adds up on your list. Anything it isn't sure about is left for you to choose.
Can one recipe have different versions?
Yes. A curry can hold chicken or paneer as choices within the same recipe, and some ingredients can be marked optional. You pick which to use each time you plan it, without writing the recipe out twice.
Do I need a connection to import a recipe?
Yes, reading a recipe needs a connection. Everything else, including typing a recipe in yourself, works offline.
